Tipping

I needed a break from something else I was working on today, so I painted another quick portrait, this time it's the writer Malcolm Gladwell. A bit wonky, but never mind.

Museum

I went to the British Museum for a wander and a sketch today. Two Indian sculptures from Tamil Nadu, and a couple of classical sculptures from somewhere I've forgotten.

Exeter Sketch

Some location sketches in Exeter from the past couple of days. I'd hoped to do a lot more, but kept getting thwarted by the rain. Something I haven't been doing nearly enough of recently. Need to take the paints out with me. The foreground building in the bottom image was a bit of a mess, so I erased the detail on good ol' PS.

Car

My old Clio has been replaced, so I thought I'd better sit out and draw the old thing before passing her on to some little scamp. 5 and a half years of (sometimes) reliable service. I've got to say, drawing close-up foreshortened cars is hard. She even passed the MOT this morning. I couldn't believe it. So, if anyone's looking for a nice little run-around motor, let me know...

Faces

A couple more portraits, again just from photo reference. I'm really trying to get into painting portraits again, as it's something I've neglected for a long while. Just playing around with the technique and trying to get the tones and features right. I added a still life alien toy to the top one.
