William Etty

Had a look at the exhibition William Etty: Art and Controversy at York Art Gallery the other weekend. The show was mainly concerned with how the Victorian painter was derided and scorned in his day for his preoccupation with painting very erotic-looking nudes. Well, he sure was good at painting flesh, and an awesome colour mixer.

Also, I received a nice email to say that my piece from the London Transport Museum is among 12 pieces from the exhibition chosen to be displayed at the Serco head office for the next 5 weeks or so.

Cat Bowl

Pat was recently bought a cat-shaped cat food bowl. The instructions for its use are in the form of these small illustrative diagrams. An apparently hugely pregnant woman is seen dutifully feeding her fat cat.


It seems that someone was so keen to avoid showing (or drawing) the woman's face that the neck extends right up to the top of the picture. Reminds me of old Tom & Jerry cartoons where you'd only see the legs of the humans. I found this very funny. And brilliant.
