Park Sketches

Springtime gouache sketches, Alexandra Park.

Been enjoying gouache for sketching outside this year. Ease of use, vibrant and quick-drying, and the opacity massively helps when working quickly.

Trying to capture quick glimpses of places.

Garden Sunshine

Another sunny-day sketch.

Resurrection Sketches

I thought it about time I began updating the blog again. Here are a couple of gouache sketches from one of those sunny days, sitting in the woods.

More places

Okay, so it is true that most of these have been sketched out of the bedroom window.

Location Location

I've been doing more locationy sketches lately. Trying to keep ticking over.

Exeter Sketch

Some location sketches in Exeter from the past couple of days. I'd hoped to do a lot more, but kept getting thwarted by the rain. Something I haven't been doing nearly enough of recently. Need to take the paints out with me. The foreground building in the bottom image was a bit of a mess, so I erased the detail on good ol' PS.

Canal, pens

I splashed out on a some new drawing pens the other day. And a nice fat marker pen too, one that doesn't even bleed through to the back of the paper. I got pretty excited about these.

These top two sketches were scrawled with an old marker pen though.

I'm going to be buying some new paints soon. VERY excited about that. : )

This is my 50th post on this blog, which is pleasing. And this year I'm already well past my total bloggaging for last year, oh yes.
